Everyday makeup bag essentials are items and products that play nice with a lot of your other makeup products and sometimes are the go-to products that stay no matter the look you’re going for.
For this post, I’m going to share some of my essentials with the intention of you walking away with ideas and tips to keep in your head when looking through your own makeup bag.
THE MAKEUP BAG
I love makeup bags with compartments and dividers to keep my makeup and beauty products organized and clean. If you’ve ever traveled and had your makeup roll around in an open bag, it’s not fun. Especially when you have glass foundation bottles and eyeshadow palettes with mirrors in it.
The makeup bag I recommend is from Beis. I enjoy the compartments, zipped design, and easy to clean style this bag has. It fits in almost any bag, and I love that I can slip it into my weekender bag, also from Beis. (Not sponsored, but Beis, if you’d like to hook me up with more, I’m here!)
BROWN LINER OR SHADOW STICK
A brown eyeliner or eyeshadow stick can go a long way. It’s easily wearable for daytime and night time. Often times you’ll usually have an eyeshadow palette in your makeup bag, but this can be used for so many things. I try to go for a non-shimmery liner pencil.
This can help with eyeliner, become a base for eyeshadow, use it as a lipliner if it’s soft enough and be used as a shadow all over the lid. Believe me, a brown liner or shadow stick has gotten me out of some makeup mishaps and it’s always going to be something I keep in my makeup bag.
BRONZER ALL DAY
Bronzer is another product that helps me erase makeup mistakes, unblended makeup or a foundation that is too light for me. This doubles as a eyeshadow too! If you’re wanting one product that can work for multiple things, bronzer is you product.
You can always purchase a bronzer, but if you want to save a few bucks, find a pressed powder a few shades darker than your skin tone. I recommend Maybelline Matte & Poreless powder, or you can go for one of LOreal’s powders. Because it’s a skin tone, it’s not going to look too cool or too warm. And it’s inexpensive!
GLOW WITH HIGHLIGHTER
I’m a highlighter type of girl. I’m sure you’ve seen me use a lot of powder highlighters since I’ve been doing makeup tutorials on my Youtube Channel.
However, If you’re looking for something to work for multiple purposes in that makeup bag, you’re going to need Charlotte tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. I’m telling you, it’s my favorite product I’ve purchased from the brand and I’ll be re-purchasing over and over again.
This product is not shimmery but somehow makes your skin look like it has a filter. It’s not overly dewy on my skin but just enough to look like I used fresh moisturizer. You can mix it into a matte foundation, apply it as a primer under or use it as a highlighter along with a body product for a glow.
PEACHY BLUSH = UNIVERSAL
Peachy blushers are universal depending on the shade of peach. If you need more of an orange shade, go for burnt orange.
You can use this for the eyes and cheeks for a monochromatic look. A mauve toned blush is great for a more youthful look, but I have found for my skin, that it works with any look you try.
My favorite peach blush is from No7 called Peach velvet. I’ve had mine for years and, I love that a little goes a long way. It’s one of those blushes that made me love blush.
BROWN LIP LINER SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL
I mentioned a brown eyeliner, but if you can get a brown lip liner, that’s going to be the hero of the makeup bag. If you wear a lot of nude lipstick but find that it washes you out, this is going to be the go-to product to fix it.
I don’t know how it works, but since my brown lip liner and clear gloss days, this has always been in my makeup bag. Any brand will do, but my favorite is Laura Mercier. It’s technically a matte lipstick, but I use it as a lip liner and it’s the perfect product.
The tone, undertone, and finish are what makes this my favorite because you can wear it with a peachy nude, a regular nude, or a mauve nude lipstick; and it’s going to look good. Don’t believe me? Check out my Instagram tutorial doing my favorite Two-product lip combination.
MY LIP GLOSS IS POPPIN’
Gloss is always a good idea. I have two crystal clear glosses I love using. You don’t need both, but If you want to be fancy, try Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb in Glass Slipper. It’s amazing.
The only thing I wasn’t fond of was that it leaks a lot. The cap is tight, and it still manages to get a slight film of the gloss. Keep it in a bag or upright. My drugstore option is from Rimmel London. It’s affordable and does a decent job of staying on the lips. Find that one here
BROWS BROWS BROWS
A given, but I love a good brow feathering pen. I swear these make my brows look more natural rather than using just a brow pencil. I love the occasional brow pomade too; I’ve been using this one from Benefit Cosmetics.
For a quicker application, try finding a brush tip style brow feathering pen that has a thin tip for suitable application. Two I’ve been using together are Stroke a Brow and Glossier’s Brow Flick.
