I had a ton of requests about sharing how to make Iced Coffee at home on my snapchat,(KaleiLagunero) so here’s how I make it! I’m the lady at Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks ordering a Venti/Large Iced Coffee, Caramel, (extra) with no whip; cream and sugar. My version isn’t the better version because let’s face it, I don’t have industrial stuff but It works for me and my tastebuds so why not give it a try?
TYPE OF COFFEE YOU NEED
I’ve tried Dunkin Coffee, Donut Shop, Colombian and it just wasn’t the same. Partly because I need the actual beans instead of the K-cups and partly because I just didn’t know the type of coffee these places used. I recently picked up Arabica Coffee and found it was much stronger and tasted better. Depending on the strength, try to go for bold roasts or stick with a mild blend. Either way, it gets watered down so be mindful of this when you’re sippin’ away.
HOW TO MAKE ICED COFFEE AT HOME
- Arabica coffee or coffee of your choosing
- Almond Milk or whole milk. I like almond
- Sweetener like sugar or you can use agave/stevia
- Flavoring, I like caramel
- Creamer I use vanilla
- Cup + Straw
After going through the entire coffee brewing process, in a cup add your sweetener first at the bottom. Add the coffee and creamer of your choice.
Add a pump or two of the flavoring while the coffee is still pretty hot and mix it up. Then, add the almond milk and ice. (All of the measurements depend on how sweet or strong you want it so I eye-ball mine each time. Less sweetener equals stronger and bitter taste)
Add the lid and twirl the cup so it mixes all the flavors and sweetener and you have yourself the easiest ice coffee. I’ve noticed Starbucks steams their milk so if you prefer to do that, by all means do that. I’ve also found using Arabica coffee doesn’t give an after taste and it’s much stronger even when the milk or ice is added so it doesn’t just taste like flavored milk with sweetener.
How do you make your iced coffee? I’d love to hear your versions in the comments so I can try them out and if you want to share your favorites with me, use hashtag: Food_withme on Instagram so I can see it!
