When it comes to baby products, I like to purchase items that are trusted by my daughter’s physician and used by many other moms. I’m not a new mom, but I am a new mom of two little girls and I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t with my first-born daughter, that the second time around was almost too easy.
BABY BATH TIME PRODUCTS
Dove tip to toe baby wash is a newer favorite that I’ve been using for my little one the past 6 months. She can’t use what I used for my eldest, which was Johnson and Johnson because she has dry and sensitive skin.
Dove Baby has some amazingly scented and effective products that I have purchased 3-4 times for my little one. Her skin is soft, baby smooth and the scent lingers without being overpowering.
With the Dove Baby shampoo, I use a little less than a dime sized amount to make sure her hair and scalp are clean and moisturized. After bath time, I’ll apply her moisturizers to ensure her skin doesn’t lose any moisture.
Baby Dove has a good lotion that I follow-up with and for her little face, I like to use a product that I used until my eldest was about 4 and it’s by Baby Aveeno. It’s a moisturizer with no scent and keeps her face from getting dry.
DIAPERS AND OTHER BABY ESSENTIALS
When Zadie is congested, I like to use a Humidifier and baby Vicks on her chest and bottom of her feet. A new product for me this time around is the Nosefrieda. That item is a must-have. Zadie has had 2 colds in her little lifetime from the weather changes and that has helped her breath a lot better!
For her nails, I use Safety One’s nail trimmers and I recommend using a nail file until you’re confident with the trimmers.
As for laundry, I use Baby Dreft because it’s non-irritating for her skin and I also like to use the stain remover pen for on-the-go.
OPTIONAL YET LIFE-SAVING ITEMS
I use a diaper pail that works and converts into a regular trash can when she’s no longer in diapers and it’s a lifesaver. If you’re a new mom, I recommend one!
Baby swings are also lifesavers because you’ll be able to sit arms free for a few before it’s your next feeding.
Baby carriers are what I currently use, and I’ll probably be using until she wants to walk. I love mine because it supports my lower back and has a brace on my hips.
NURSING, TEETHERS AND ACTIVITY SET
If you’re nursing, I love using a nursing cover that’s not like a blanket. Cause it get’s hot over here. I can see everything, but no one else can see what’s happening.
As for teething toys, I really like the silicone necklaces that mommy or daddy wears, so baby isn’t putting your necklaces or trying to nom your earrings.
THE BEST ON THE MARKET IN MY OPINION
Muslin blankets are a wonderful option because they aren’t super thick, and baby won’t get too hot in 80-degree weather.
I’m sure I can go on and on about more items I love, but I’ll leave you with some amazing advice that I adopted before giving birth to my Zadie…
Research is key! Read a ton of reviews and think past 6 months. Can you use it? Will you use it? If not, don’t buy it. I can’t tell you how many items I ended up with that I never used or wish I never purchased with my firstborn that ended up being given away or worse, thrown away!
